Saccharomycodes ludwigii: mutation accumulation study

Saccharomycodes ludwigii, a spoilage agent of wine, belongs to the family Saccharomycodaceae of the budding yeasts. Although it is a sexual species, meiotic crossing over occurs extremely rarely in this organism. In this project, we studied the frequency and spectrum of de novo mutations to better understand generation of genetic diversity and genome evolution in Saccharomycodes ludwigii. For this, we subjected haploid and diploid strains to a mutation accumulation experiment, which was followed by whole-genome sequencing and analysis.
