TCMeta: a multilingual dataset of COVID tweets for relation-level metaphor analysis

This is TCMeta, a dataset of COVID tweets annotated for relation-level metaphors. The data is in tabular format, where each line presents a unique phrase under consideration, sampled from a particular tweet. It contains 2,138 Slovene examples and 2,221 English examples. The dataset is comprised of the following columns: Column Explanation Language the language of the tweet, either 'sl' (Slovene) or 'en' (English) Tweet ID the unique identifier of the tweet, which can be used to retrieve the text of the post Phrase the phrase from the tweet that is considered COVID metaphor label 'y' (Yes) or 'n' (No): whether it is a metaphor relating to COVID (but see the Comment column below) Metaphoric lemmas metaphoric lemmas in the phrase Comment additional annotations, including: - 'not covid rel' (a metaphor, but not related to COVID)- 'not relation level' (a metaphor, but not on the level of the phrase, only in the wider - 'not syntactically related' (error in the annotation, not a proper phrase)- 'reverse metaphor' (a metaphor where the source and target domains are reversed)- 'idiomatic' (expression is an idiom or part of an idiom) According to the Terms of Service of the then Twitter platform, we could not freely distribute the text of the tweets. We recommend retrieving the text of the tweets by using the Hydrator tool [https://github.com/docnow/hydrator].
