This dataset contains gas-phase and aerosol measurements collected during the CHANEL (Household Chemicals Amplifying Urban Aerosol Pollution) campaign, conducted at the SAPHIR (Simulation of Atmospheric PHotochemistry In a large Reaction Chamber) outdoor atmospheric simulation chamber at Forschungszentrum Jülich, Germany, during summer 2024. The campaign comprised 27 experiments simulating a range of urban chemical environments, including single-source oxidation experiments (volatile chemical products, cooking, gasoline, and diesel exhaust) and multi-source mixtures representative of present-day Los Angeles, diesel-dominated European cities, and future low-vehicle-emission scenarios, under diverse daytime and nighttime oxidant regimes. Measurements include: gas-phase VOCs and oxygenated VOCs by NH4⁺ and H3O⁺ chemical ionisation mass spectrometry (VOCUS and FUSION PTR-TOF); non-methane hydrocarbons (C2–C12) by online GC–MS/FID (GC-ACTRIS and GC-1); trace inorganic gases including NOx, NOy, O3, and HONO by chemiluminescence, UV absorption, and iterative cavity-enhanced DOAS (ICAD); OH, HO2, and RO2 radical concentrations by laser-induced fluorescence (ROxLIF); NO3 radical chemistry by chemical ionisation; total OH reactivity by laser-flash photolysis LIF; aerosol chemical composition by high-resolution aerosol mass spectrometry (AMS), Orbitrap mass spectrometry, WALL-E Orbitrap, and Extractive Electrospray Ionisation (EESI); aerosol volatility and molecular composition by a Filter Inlet for Gases and AEROsols (FIGAERO) coupled to iodide chemical ionisation and by a CHARON inlet coupled to NH4⁺ and H3O⁺ chemical ionisation mass spectrometry; gas-phase molecular composition by a Multi-Reagent Chemical Ionisation Mass Spectrometer (MR-CIMS) operated with iodide, acetone, bromide, and benzene reagent ions; oxygenated compounds by a high-resolution amine time-of-flight instrument (amine-HTOF); aerosol size distributions by Scanning Mobility Particle Sizers (SMPS) and an Electrical Low Pressure Impactor (ELPI); and photolysis frequencies by CCD spectroradiometry. The dataset supports investigations of urban radical chemistry, secondary organic aerosol formation and volatility, ozone production, organic nitrate chemistry, and the chemical diversity of urban air under atmospherically relevant oxidation conditions.
