Vanderburgh Recovery Housing Certification Landscape, 2026 Edition — Dataset

A 50-state record of who certifies recovery housing in the United States, what the credential costs, and what it gates. For every state the report documents the certifying body and whether it is an affiliate recognized by the National Alliance for Recovery Residences, a state-run program, an out-of-state affiliate, a licensure regime, or absent; the fee schedule as that body publishes it; renewal cadence and inspection frequency; the public directory of certified residences; and whether certification is a precondition of lawful operation, a condition of access to public money, referrals, or registry listing, or neither. Only 26 of the 33 states with a recognized affiliate publish a first-year fee; the median standardized first-year cost across those states, for a single eight-bed Level II home, is $512.50. 17 states have no recognized affiliate and 9 offer no obtainable credential of any kind.
