<p>The PATSIC contains the U.S. Patent and Standard Industrial Classification (ISPC and SOC) information. For each patent, the data file contains an OR (Original classification), the SIC(s) corresponding to the original classification and the SIC(s) corresponding to all USPCs, both original and cross-reference classifications, if any. SICs appear as TAF Sequence numbers and correspond to SIC product fields. The CONAME file, the previous company code has no relevant meaning; the number of patents refers to the total utility patent count for the period 1969-1991.
