Using a quasi-experimental design and original survey data from 456 households, this paper analyzes the effects of a rental-based slum upgrading program in Nairobi on the material well-being of its beneficiaries, as measured by their monthly per capita expenditures, ten years after implementation. Data were collected between February and May 2024.
