Western Lake Erie Culture Collection

This collection contains sequence data from 21 cultures that were isolated from western Lake Erie cyanobacteria Harmful Algal Blooms (cyanoHABs) during 2017-2019. Each culture contains a strain of Microcystis spp., as well as associated bacteria that physically attach to Microcystis colonies. The assemblage of associated bacteria varies between each culture. This collection is part of an ongoing effort to isolate and study environmentally relevant strains of cyanobacteria from the Great Lakes and increases the availability of strains from temperate North America.
