More Buildings Facing the Palace at Fishbourne: Supplementary Material

This archive contains supplemental material to the final report documenting the results of the recent excavations by the Sussex Archaeological Society in front of the Roman Palace at Fishbourne, near Chichester. This report deals with Area C, excavated in 2002. One of the principal discoveries, the pre-AD 43 ditch, has been reported elsewhere (Manley & Rudkin 2005b). This report concentrates on the post-AD 43 features and finds, of which the structural highlights are the partial remains of two further buildings, one constructed in timber, the other with flint foundations. These two buildings, together with the two revealed previously, suggest that in this area there was a complicated series of developments pre- and post-Palace.
