Fungal community in the rhizosphere of Hordeum comosum

The objective of the study was to unravel the response of rhizosphere fungal guilds to biotic and environmental factors. In a gradient from arid to humid environments (150 - 950 mm.y-1), we examined the relationship between the Epichloe (a foliar symbiont) presence and grazing severity on fungal richness within rhizosphere of the perennial grass Hordeum comosum. The study underscores the urgency of considering these complex above-belowground interactions in the context of changing climate patterns, providing crucial insights for future ecological strategies and conservation efforts.
