Salish Sea Automatic Identification Systems Receiver Deployed 2016-04-27

The Digital Yacht AISnet Receiver 1302-0098-01 was deployed on 2016-04-27 at Salish Sea. The Salish Sea includes a network of channels and coastal waters near Vancouver Island. The Salish Sea includes the Strait of Georgia, Strait of Juan de Fuca, Saanich Inlet and Puget Sound. This device is a Automatic Identification Systems Receiver. Land-based Automatic Identification System (AIS) receivers provide data that track marine vessels within range of the receiver. The data are used to monitor, understand and mitigate the impacts of marine shipping activities. It was deployed on a fixed platform. Data from this deployment were archived and made available through Ocean Networks Canada's Oceans 3.0 digital infrastructure, with quality assurance and derived data products following established practices.
