资源简介:
Microbiological outcome of TB and TB-DM in Indonesia Diabetes triples the risk of active TB and the increasing burden of type 2 diabetes will sustain the present of TB epidemic. Multiple studies of TB treatment have also indicated that patients with diabetes may experience poor outcomes, defined as recurrence of TB after treatment completion, failure, or death. Our current cohort of TB patients with Diabetes Mellitus showed that the risk of recurrent TB was higher in DM patients, but it is still unclear whether it was due to relapse, reinfection with a new strain of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, or the emergence of drug resistance during therapy. The objectives of this project are: 1. To determine the proportions of treatment failure, and recurrence among TB patients with DM compared to non-DM. 2. To determine the proportions of relapse and re-infection among those who experienced recurrent TB. 3. To understand the role of bacteriological strain to treatment failure, relapse, and reinfection. This data is part of a pre-publication release.
