BISON Amphibian Topotypes of North America Targeted loci. amphibians

USGS Biodiversity Information Serving Our Nation (BISON) is a web-based resource for species occurrence data in the US. A subproject of BISON is to collect topotypic genomic quality tissues. As a pilot study, staff and interns from the Smithsonian Institution (NMNH), USGS, James Madison University, and Eastern Mennonite University collected specimens and tissues from type localities of salamanders in Virginia. Here, we provide DNA barcodes of topotypes as reference material for taxonomic comparisons. We also provide DNA barcodes of related amphibian taxa from the region.
