Infodemics in the Infodemics in the performance society: between the pamphlet wall and the digital panopticon

ABSTRACT In this article, we analyze the “infodemics” phenomenon - which consists of an excess of information, true or false, on a given subject - in the specific context of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus pandemic, about the disease Covid-19. Based on the concepts of Burnout Society, Performance Society (HAN, 2017a); Transparency Society (HAN, 2017b) and Demediatization (HAN, 2018), we analyzed how the discursive interactions and the flow of false information cured by humans and machines contribute to the questioning of scientific discourse during the pandemic by web consumers.
