The STAR Nav Moon Dataset

The dataset contains about 1000 images of the Moon at different poses and phase angles acquired in the DART Lab’s optical stimulator TinyV3rse using a TRL-9 star tracker (AA-STR) provided by Leonardo S.p.a.. The images are geometrically and radiometrically calibrated. Distortions induced by the optics and by the facility were removed, and each image's brightness is consistent with what the sensor would capture on the real domain at that exposure time. The dataset is the final product package of the STAR Nav project, led by Politecnico di Milano’s DART Lab in collaboration with Leonardo SpA (ESA Contract No. 4000139932/22/NL/CRS). More information about the project is available in the publications section. MOON15_036_090 This subset contains images acquired at 15 microseconds with phase angles varying from 36 to 90 degrees. Images are generated to mimic the LUMIO trajectory with a time step of 300 seconds between consequent frames. MOON15_000_036 This subset contains images acquired at 15 microseconds with phase angles varying from 0 to 36 degrees. Images are not generated on a predefined trajectory around the Moon. MOON15_090_120 This dataset contains images acquired at 15 microseconds with phase angles varying from 90 to 120 degrees. Images are not generated on a predefined trajectory around the Moon.
