Electronic supplementary material, table S1: from Revisiting the ‘nuclear species’ concept: do we really know what we think we know?

The first sheet in this file contains the master database of referenced text segments about nuclear species and nuclearity in mixed-species bird flocks extracted from published papers. Each segment is duplicated in the database for every unique combination of cited paper and idea contained. Relevant text segments often appeared clustered together in a paragraph, typically in the Introduction or Discussion of the paper. The column “Extracted cluster of segments” contains these larger larger clusters of segments, from which we isolated individual segments for our analyses. Full references are available in electronic supplementary material, table S2. The second sheet in this file contains the explanations and categorisation of idea tags used in the master database.
