Molecular biodiversity of Loricariidae fish

We study the molecular biodiversity of Loricariidae fish aiming to comprehend specific biochemical and physiological adaptations found in those species, in particular adaptations on genes coding for enzymes involved on the biotransformation of xenobiotics. Moreover, we aim to elucidate the phylogenetic relationships among these fish and provide genetic markers to be used in population genetics, phylogenetic and environmental toxicology studies.
