Determining metabolic dependencies in Cellulose-degrading Consortia. Metabolically-dependent Decomposers

Several bacterial groups are commonly associated with the decomposition of cellulose, but ostensibly lack the necessary cellulases. We performed experiments to characterize the nature of their metabolic interactions with cellulolytic species in co-culture to elucidate their effect on the rate and quality of cellulose decomposition.
