Exploration of the microbial diversity of a metagenomic soil sample

We applied an innovative hybridization capture strategy that enables the enrichment of the full-length 16S rRNA phylogenetic marker from complex metagenomic samples. Thus, we identified an exhaustive microbial diversity that is missed when using current profiling approaches. We efficiently revealed hidden microbial diversity, described novel bacterial taxa, and established fine-resolution phylogenetic classification of the 16S rRNA gene.
