Temperature distribution of Westfal C

This map shows today’s temperature distribution for the Top Westfal C (System: Carbon; Subsystem: Upper carbon/siles; before about 325-290 Ma) in the KW model of the central German North Sea. The information is available for the project area in the area of the central German North Sea (Geotectonic Atlas, Baldschuhn et al., 2001). Map creation is an extraction from the simulation of the dynamic KW model of the central German North Sea. The aim of the 3D modelling is the reconstruction of the sinking, temperature and maturation history of carbonated petroleum nut rocks, which can be used as a basis for the estimation of KW potential. Processing: To display in the map server, the original grid (rectangular, non-square) was transferred to a square grid. The model is simulated using the PetroMod software package (Schlumberger, version 2012.2). The model input dataset is available via the product download.
