Isolation And Characterization Of Certain Pgpr Isolates From Maize Rhizosphere Soil Samples Ofperambalur District Soil Samples Ofperambalur District

Abstract:In the present study, an attempt was made to isolate and characterize certain important plant growthpromoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) from ten locations of Perambalur district of Tamilnadu. The results showed that4all the maize soils harbouredPGPR such as Azospirillum, Bacillus and Pseudomonas to the tune of 10 CFU/g ofrhizosphere soil sample. Pure culture of the above PGPR were isolated and characterized for tentativeidentification at their species level. General and biochemical characterization studies revealed that five eachisolate of A. brasilenseand A. lipoferum, six isolates of P. fluorescens and four isolates of P. putida and five each ofB. megaterium and B. polymyxa were found among the ten rhizosphere soils.
