Colombian Students in Melbourne: A Study of Their Settlement Experiences

International tertiary students from Colombia are one of the most rapidly growing cohorts coming to Australia for education. Currently, Colombia is in the top 10 origin countries nationally for international student recruitment, and one of two in the top 10 outside the diverse Asian region. Despite the growing numbers, little is known about this group of students in Melbourne, Victoria. This thesis focusses on the plight of Colombian international students in Melbourne, Australia. To gain insight into their experiences, it explores students’ views and practices towards meeting their housing, employment and mental health needs.
