Draft genome sequencing of a fungus, Paraphoma.sp. strain B47-9, a producer of the biodegradable plastic-degrading enzyme. Paraphoma sp. B47-9

Paraphoma sp. B47-9 isolated from leaf surface of barley is a producer of the biodegradable plastic (BP)-degrading enzyme (PCLE). Since PCLE efficiently degrades various BPs, it is expected to be a useful accelerator for degradation of used BP products. The genome analysis will advance our understanding for the regulation of PCLE gene expression. Therefore whole genome of B47-9 was sequenced for improvement of PCLE production. While the Paraphoma sp. B47-9 is not a plant pathogenic strain, some strains that belong to Paraphoma sp. are plant pathogenic. The draft genome sequence also encouraged our understanding the characteristics of this species.
