This dataset contains the data generated and analyzed in the study “Numerosity Adaptation Across Size Transformations”by Serena Castellotti, Letizia Ingenito, Elisa Castaldi, and Roberto Arrighi. The dataset is organized into two folders corresponding to the two experiments described in the study: Experiment 1 (Static Adaptor) and Experiment 2 (Dynamic Adaptor). Each folder contains 35 MATLAB (.mat) files, one for each participant. Participant datasets are anonymized and identified by an alphanumeric code. Experiment 1 (Static Adaptor): Each .mat file contains a matrix named COMPLETEMAT, consisting of 792 rows (one row per trial) and seven columns: Column 1: Test numerosity. Number of dots in the test array. Possible values are 12, 14, 16, 18, 21, 24, 28, 32, 36, 42, and 48. Column 2: Reference numerosity. Number of dots in the reference array. This value is always 24. Column 3: Test and reference dot-size condition (1 = small dots; 2 = large dots). Column 4: Test position (−1 = test array presented in the left visual field; 1 = test array presented in the right visual field). Column 5: Experimental condition (0 = baseline; 2 = static adaptation). Column 6: Adaptor dot-size condition (0 = baseline trial; 1 = small-dot adaptor; 2 = large-dot adaptor). Column 7: Response side (1 = left response; 0 = right response). Experiment 2 (Dynamic Adaptor): Each .mat file contains a matrix named DATA, consisting of 528 rows (one row per trial) and nine columns: Column 1: Block number. Values range from 1 to 6. Column 2: Trial number within the block. Values range from 1 to 132 in baseline blocks and from 1 to 66 in dynamic-adaptation blocks. Column 3: Test numerosity. Number of dots in the test array. Possible values are 12, 14, 16, 18, 21, 24, 28, 32, 36, 42, and 48. Column 4: Reference numerosity. Number of dots in the reference array. This value is always 24. Column 5: Experimental condition (0 = baseline; 1 = dynamic adaptation). Column 6: Dynamic scaling direction (1 = small–large–small sequence; −1 = large–small–large sequence; NaN for baseline trials). Column 7: Test position (−1 = test array presented in the left visual field; 1 = test array presented in the right visual field). Column 8: Test dot-size and aperture-size condition (1 = small dots within a small aperture; 2 = large dots within a large aperture). Column 9: Response side (1 = left response; 0 = right response).
