资源简介:
Feature and stratigraphic samples from the Granberg Site, 41BX17, located in
northeastern San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas, were submitted for plant opal phytolith
analysis. This is a multi-component site with occupations that encompass a period from about
4000 B.C. to A.D. 1200. The site is located along the Salado Creek on a small knoll with
scattered trees, shrubs and grasses {Munoz, 2007 #3848}. Currently, three major vegetation
associations converge within the boundaries of Bexar County: 1) Edwards Plateau (mid-height
grasses, oak and juniper), 2) Blackland Prairies (little bluestem and other tall grasses), and 3)
South Texas Plains (tall grasslands and savannas) {Lewis, 1962 #3849}. Phytolith analysis
should provide general environmental and climatic information and help determine
paleoenvironmental change since the earliest occupations of the site.
