Dataset for: Genetic gains in yield and quality traits of Iranian sugar beet cultivars over four decades

1. General OverviewThis dataset contains the raw, plot-level data from the field trials conducted for the manuscript titled "Genetic gains in yield and quality traits of Iranian sugar beet cultivars over four decades". The study aimed to quantify the genetic progress in key agronomic and quality traits by evaluating 15 historically significant Iranian sugar beet cultivars, with release dates spanning from 1983 to 2023.2. MethodologyThe data were generated from field experiments conducted over two consecutive years (e.g., 2022 and 2023). All 15 cultivars were cultivated side-by-side under the same uniform, modern agronomic conditions to isolate genetic effects from long-term changes in management or environment. The experimental design was a randomized complete block design (RCBD) with four replications. The dataset includes measurements for root yield, sugar content, and key root quality impurities (Na⁺, K⁺, and alpha-amino N).
