<b>Data Column Headers and Descriptions:</b> <b>Habitat: </b>A grassland is defined as an open area at least 250m by 250m in size with few trees; forest is a woodlot on campus <b>Sweep net replicate: </b>This refers to the trial that was conducted. 10 separate sweep net trials were conducted in the grassland habitat and 10 separate sweep net trials were conducted in the woodlot habitat. <b>Number of Organisms: </b>The total number of insect found in the sweep nets after sweeping for 25 meters. <b>Number of Species:</b> The total number of recognizably different insect species in the sweep nets. <b>Additional Information:</b> <b>Hypothesis: </b>There will be a higher number of insects found in the grasslands than in the woodlots. <b>Prediction</b>: It is predicted that there will be a higher number of organisms observed in the sweep nets in the grasslands and a lower number of organisms observed in sweep nets in the woodlots. <b>Type of data collected: </b>The collected data was categorical. The data was grouped into the number of insects found in each sweep net replicate. <b>Time Data Was Collected: </b>Tuesday, September 27, 2016. 3:23-4:25 PM EST. <b>Location of Data</b>: Woodlot and grassland at York University, near York Boulevard. Latitude and longitude: 43.7775, -79.507. <b>Weather Conditions</b>: 20 degrees Celsius, cloudy, dry conditions. <b>Survey Method</b>: Sweep nets with a diameter of 32 cm and a depth of 73 cm were used in the experiment. 10 sweep net trials were conducted in the grassland habitat and 10 sweep net trials were conducted in the woodlot habitat. 25 meters was walked straight with the sweep net held in hand, moving through the air to catch any insects. Transect measuring tape was used to measure the distance walked. After the completion of the 25 meter walk, the number of organisms in the sweep nets was assessed and recorded, as well as the number of different recognizable species. <b></b>
