Organic pollutants in grassland soils

The Federal Environment Agency has taken soil samples from 14 extensive grassland soils for the study “Organic pollutants in grassland soils” and analysed their content of persistent organic pollutants (POP, Persistent Organic Pollutants). The following organic substances or groups of substances were analysed and evaluated: Organochlorinated compounds, polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), dioxins, furans and DL-PCBs, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE), 4nonylphenol and bisphenol A, nitrophenols, chlorophenols, phthalates, organozin compounds and the hydrocarbon index. The results provide an essential basis for describing ubiquitous pollutant loads with POP and Upcoming Organic Pollutants, novel organic pollutants with environmental relevance, in grassland soils.
