VPRS 15653 Register of Applications, Wire Netting

Under the Vermin Destruction Act 1890 (and previous Acts to do with the suppression of vermin such as the Rabbit Suppression Act 1880) provision was made for the payment of advances to municipalities for wire netting for effective fencing. These advances could consist of cash for the purchase of the wire netting or the provision of rolls of wire netting, arranged by the Public Works Department (VA 669). Advances to individuals were to be repaid and liens or mortgages could be taken to ensure this.This series registers correspondence relating to applications for wire netting and the subsequent actions taken with respect to the application. Details given are the Application number, the date of the application, the name and address of the applicant and the parish where land was located, the allotment and the extent of the land and details noting subsequent decisions and actions.Summary details at the rear of the volume gives the details of the folio on which entries appear, the name and address and parish of the recipient, the dates of the Public Works Department being requested for supply and the date of advice of the offer, the quantity supplied and the price of that quantity.Some entries have on them the letters W N with a number.
