Four bulk soil samples from the Baca Lane Pit site (BA-MM04-25) in Alamosa County,
Colorado, were floated to recover organic fragments suitable for radiocarbon analysis. These
samples were recovered from multiple buried A soil horizons within an eolian sand dune
complex. Cultural (Holocene) artifacts are associated with several of the A horizons, and a
small hearth with burned bird bones was noted. Botanic components and detrital charcoal were
identified, and potentially radiocarbon datable material was separated.
