Gut microbiota bile acid crosstalk contributes to calcium oxalate nephrolithiasis

The study aimed to explore the role of gut microbiota and its metabolites bile acids in calcium oxalate nephrolithiasis. It focused on microbiota dysbiosis, like elevated deoxycholic acid and decreased Faecalibacterium prausnitzii. It examined correlations and effects of interventions. Mechanistically, it revealed how deoxycholic acid affects heat shock protein 90 and leads to ferroptosis. Its relevance is highlighting the role of gut microbiota bile acid crosstalk in the disease's pathogenesis for future strategies.
