Monitoring and development of health forest

1. Analysis of the database for forest pests and other abiotic factors occurring in the past was achieved. Several forest areas were chosen to evaluate the impact and establish the database through the analysis of GIS and climate data. They included: pine wilt disease occurring in northern Taiwan, the windbreak forest infected by Phellinus noxius at the coastal area of central Taiwan, tussock moth on Casaurina, fir wilt disease and forest fire at mountain area of central Taiwan. 2. Investigate and montor the pests caused by Phellinus noxius and Quadrastichus erythrinae occurring in Taiwan. 3. To establish the database of pest monitoring system with the GPS. 4. To establish the forest fire database and the forest fire forecast system. 5. To help the Taiwan Forest Bureu to establish the sampling and monitoring sites of Cycad aulacaspis scale occurring at Taitung area.
