Genetic population structure of wild boars in Fukushima Prefecture, Japan

In this study project, we aim to reveal the dispersal and gene flow scale of local-population and find the genetic boundary for wild boar in Fukushima Prefecture. After the FDNPP accident in 2011, abandoned land as represented by the difficult-to-return zone (DRZ) has appeared, then the increase in numbers of wild boars has pronounced primarily around DRZ. To provide and effective strategy for management of wild boar population, we carried out MIG-seq analysis to clarify the genetic population structure of wild boars in Fukushima Prefecture including the DRZ. Their information will be useful for the management of wild boar after the FDNPP accident.
