One summer study undertaken by Dr. Gary Polis, assistant professor of biology at Vanderbilt University, is expected to result in establishment of a reference collection of desert scorpions at Deep Canyon. Dr. Polis, who did his graduate work in the Coachella Valley and frequently used Deep Canyon facilities. was studying the "Structure of Scorpion Communities" with the aid of two graduate students at the end of this fiscal year.
