Data and code for: Pre-notice citations and the estimated citation effects of correction and retraction notices: a matched comparison of late notices

Data and analysis code for the article "Pre-notice citations and the estimated citation effects of correction and retraction notices: a matched comparison of late notices". The deposit contains the notice lists sampled from Crossref, the matched pairs, the result files and the analysis scripts. Notices were retrieved from the Crossref REST API and article records and yearly citation counts from the OpenAlex API. The study was registered on OSF (https://osf.io/gtx4d). Version 2 (3 November 2026): the figure script was changed to draw Figures 1 and 2 at the journal's figure size (final width below 119 mm), with all lettering at 8 pt and PNG output at 1200 dpi; it now also writes the plotted values to figures/Figure_N.data.json. The plotted values are unchanged. Version 3 (3 November 2026): adds the post hoc analysis P4, c13_posthoc_zero_pairs.py with results/posthoc_zero_pairs.json and the locked prediction record interpretation/p4_zero_pairs_prereg.md (with its .lock.json), which recomputes the registered correction-family estimate with 1 instead of 0.5 added and without the pairs in which neither article was cited in either window. The README lists the new script. The figure PDFs were redrawn by the same script and differ from version 2 only in their embedded creation time, and results/posthoc_unmatched.json, rerun when the package is built, differs only in its recorded run time; all other files are unchanged.
