Repeated challenge of synovial fibroblasts with MSU crystals in vivo induced inflammatory priming. Overall design: Differential gene expression analysis of cultured synovial fibroblasts derived from non-injected BALB/c mouse joints (-/-) or mouse joints 9 days after the first (-/MSU) or the second (MSU/MSU) injection of MSU crystals. The primed and non-primed samples were extracted from different paws, but not necessarily different mice. The numbering (1 to 3) also does not necessarily identify a particular mouse.
