Comprehensive sampling from mitochondrial genomes substantiates the Neoproterozoic origin of land plants

To increase and balance taxon sampling of early-diverging angiospermae, we sequenced the mitochondrial genomes of Brasenia schreberi, Euryale ferox, Kadsura longipedunculata, and Illicium verum. To assemble and annotate the 16 mitochondrial genomes, we used the Hybpiper pipeline (V1.3) (https://github.com/mossmatters/HybPiper) and selected 19 high-quality mitochondrial genomes with their protein-coding genes serving as reference bait sequences, as shown here: Angiosperm_bait.fa.
