资源简介:

This store contains the ReBASE (https://ed-hawkins.github.io/ReBASE) submission from the University of Reading and the University of Edinburgh to WCRP EPESC CEAA. It provides an 80-member ensemble factual and counterfactual event data from the 20CRv3 storyline simulations for the June 2021 Pacific Northwest heatwave. Factual and counterfactual members are not paired. Experiments: Factual simulations use observed SST and sea ice. Counterfactual simulations are based on a 1950s climate: these include spatially and seasonally varying perturbations to the SSTs, a 1950s climatology sea ice field, and 1950s CO2 levels. The factual–counterfactual global warming level difference is 1K. Event definition: Maximum daily-maximum 2m temperature averaged over 45–52°N, 119–123°W during 25–30 June 2021, using cosine-latitude weighting. Data tiers Tier 1 (ReBASE_20CRv3_tier1.nc): Ensemble mean change in event intensity, dI (factual minus counterfactual), in K. Tier 2 (ReBASE_20CRv3_tier2.nc): Factual (mx2t_f) and counterfactual (mx2t_cf) raw event-intensity samples, (K), with 80 ensembles. Tier 3 (ReBASE_20CRv3_tier3.nc): Daily fields for the five days preceding the event for each ensemble over 30–70°N, 60–180°W. Variables: 2t_f, 2t_cf (2m temperature, K); gh_f, gh_cf (500 hPa geopotential height, m); msl_f, msl_cf (mean sea-level pressure, Pa); tcc_f, tcc_cf (total cloud cover, %); soilw_f, soilw_cf (top-layer soil water fraction); pwat_f, pwat_cf (precipitable water, kg m⁻²). Scalar gwl gives the 1K warming-level difference. A 1991–2020 climatology is not included because the available 20CRv3 data cover 2014–2024.
