WFS wood-dominated ecoton density

In ecology, a particularly species-rich transition area between two different ecosystems is to be understood as an ecoton (marginal or border biotope). Wood and forest edges, rows of trees and hedges play an important role. The more hem biotopes there are in a landscape or territorial unit, the higher this landscape is to be assessed from a nature conservation point of view.
