Aquatic macrocrustacean invertebrates were collected from 11 vernal pools around the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB), from January through May 2019. The goal of the sampling was to assess the species diversity of natural, restored, and created vernal pools. Because we were only able to visually identify some specimens down to class, we wanted to utilize genomics to attain higher resolution taxonomic determination. So, we Sanger sequenced the specimens and matched them to specimens in NCBI's GenBank.
