Recurrent reduction of gut microbiota diversity up to maintenance Infliximab infusions in paediatric IBD patients. Ped. IBD microbiome and IFX treatment

Objective: investigate if the gut microbiome correlate to time to treatment (IFX) and disease activity in children with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Data and design: Data were collected from IBD patients aged 10-17 years participating in an IFX eHealth study. Patients IFX-infusions were determined in 4-12 weeks intervals based on weekly assessed faecal calprotectin (FC) combined with a symptom score. Stool samples were subjected to microbiome profiling using 16S rRNA gene sequencing.
