Aspergillus ustus strain:3.3904 Genome sequencing and assembly

Aspergillus ustus belongs to section Usti, which is a mostly free living micro-organism but is also an opportunistic pathogen of immunocompromised patients, causing the infection in lung, eyes and hand. However, in contrast to the extensive study of other Aspergillus species, such as A. fumigatus, the major cause of invasive pulmonary aspergillosis, and A. nidulans, the model organism of a wide range of topics like development, cell cycle control and metabolism, biology and genetics of A. ustus is largely unknown. For better understanding the genetics of this rare pathogen, a free living A. ustus strain is sequenced in this work and comparative analyzed with special interest in its biosynthesis of secondary metabolites.
