资源简介:
This dataset records reviewed reports made to Camden Council of swooping birds within the Camden Local Government Area for the current year. Several native Australian bird species including the Australian Magpie (Gymnorhina tibicen), Masked Lapwing or “Plover” (Vanellus miles) and Grey Butcherbird (Cracticus torquatus) exhibit swooping behaviour during breeding season, typically in Spring (August–October). This may result in birds swooping people, pets, or animals they perceive as a threat to their nest. It is estimated only 5% of these native birds swoop during breeding season, this natural and temporary behaviour typically ceases when the young leave the nest. Native birds have their place in the Australian ecosystem, and it is important that we learn to live with wildlife so we can co-exist without endangering conservation of our native wildlife. Avoiding nest sites during breeding season is recommended to reduce chances of being swooped. For further information visit: https://www.camden.nsw.gov.au/environment/biodiversity/native-animals/swooping-birds/ Disclaimer: While care has been taken to create and compile this dataset, Camden Council does not warrant, represent or guarantee that it is accurate, complete, current, suitable or available.
