MicroRNA-204-5p is a tumor suppressor and potential therapeutic target in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma.

To understand molecular mechanisms underlying miR-204-5p mediated suppression of HNSCC progression, we performed RNA-seq analysis in UM-SCC1 cells transfected with miR-204-5p mimics and control mimics. The expression of JAK2, SNAI2, TGFBR2, MAP2K4, involved in both EMT and STAT3 signaling, were all decreased in cells treated with miR-204-5p mimics. UM-SCC1 cells were transfected with miR-204-5p mimics or corresponding control oligos. MiR-204-5p induced gene expression in UM-SCC1 cells was measured at 48 hours after transfection. Three independent experiments were performed for each group.
