The causal agent of cedar root rot, Pythium cedri, is a widely distributed species of the Pythium genus. In order to systemically explore the interaction between Cedar and P. cedri, we sequenced the whole-genome of P. cedri Chen-4. The described genome sequence will provide a valuable resource for better understanding of pathogenicity mechanisms of P. cedri and help in uncovering phylogenetical classification of Pythium species.
