The purpose was to find changes in the E. coli transcriptome as a result of isoleucine starvation. rRNA depletion at the library preparation stage was avoided so changes in levels of any ncRNAs could be gauged as accurately as possible. Samples were sequenced at added depth to make up for lack of rRNA depletion.
