Candida albicans Drives Th17-Mediated Lung Inflammation in Severe Asthma

This study demonstrates that Candida albicans colonization in the gut triggers IL-6-mediated Th17 cell-driven lung inflammation, leading to neutrophilic asthma. Disrupting fungal virulence factors or inhibiting IL-6R reduces lung inflammation, suggesting that targeting the IL-6 pathway could be a promising treatment for severe asthma.
