Data on monkeypox smallpox — Virus monkeypox

### **INFORMATION** The indicators are derived from data from the monitoring of monkeypox smallpox (Monkeypox virus infection) via mandatory declarations (DO) of “orthopoxviroses including smallpox”, transmitted to ARS and then centralised by Santé publique France. These mandatory declarations are completed by clinicians and/or biologists from a dedicated form. The information on certain reported cases, in particular at the beginning of the epidemic, may be partial as directly transmitted by the laboratories to the ARS. **Cases are presented per week of reporting.** A confirmed case of monkeypox smallpox is a person with a positive result of qPCR or RT-PCR specific to Monkeypox virus, or a positive result in generic qPCR of the genus Orthopoxvirus associated or not with a specific partial sequencing result of the Monkeypox virus. — Only confirmed cases for which the patient’s region of residence (or otherwise the reporting region) is known are indicated. Persons domiciled abroad are not counted. As a result, the sum of the cases indicated in the regions may be less than the total number of cases recorded in France. — The time limit for reporting cases may exceed 15 days in certain situations. **The indicators are updated weekly.** Coding of age classes: ‘0 = all ages’ < 14 = less than 15 years’ ‘44 = 15-44 years’ ‘64 = 45-64 years’ ‘65 = 65 years or older’ Sex coding: ‘0 = men and women’ ‘1 = men’ ‘2 = women’ **Taking into account the staff and in order to guarantee the anonymity of the persons, restitution at the departmental level or by age _and_ sex is currently not possible.**
