General assistance, benefits by age and gender, 1998-2010

The table provides insight into the number of households with benefits that are awarded under the General Assistance Act (Abw), the Work Act and assistance (WWB) or the provision of income on the basis of the Law Investing in Youth (WIJ). The Abw was replaced on 1 January 2004 by the WWB. As of October 1, 2009, the WWB is the WIJ. gained strength. The number of households is broken down by different regional classifications. The data are broken down by the following personal and benefit characteristics: — gender; — age; — marital status; — form of life; — housing; — number of dependent children; — source of income; — duration of the benefit. Please note: The results do not reflect the number of people who depend on social assistance, but the number of households benefiting from benefits has been awarded. This is particularly important for households of (marriage) couples. In the case of couples, both partners are entitled to equal shares. the benefit, however, is a single benefit and will be paid until January 2005 only the characteristics of the person who actually received the benefit considered requested. The figures from January 2005 onwards when allocating benefits to (marriage) couples consistently adopt the personal characteristics of the oldest person from the couple. Data available from: January 1998. Status of the figures: The figures have both provisional (as of August 2010) and final character (until August 2010). Changes as of 30 November 2010: The preliminary figures are added in September 2010. When will there be new figures: the table has been discontinued with effect from 24 December 2010.
