Tomato production under protected conditions represents an important economic contribution to the agricultural sector. Verticillium wilt, caused by pathogenic strains of the soil-borne fungus Verticillium dahliae Kleb., cause significant yield losses in tomatoes throughout the world. Strains of V. dahliae that infect commercial tomato genotypes have not been, until now, reported in Colombia. Therefore, the aim of this study was to perform an accurate identification of V. dahliae isolates collected from wilted tomato plants in different departments in the Central Colombian Andean Region. This V. dahliae isolate named hereafter as VdB09 was collected from infected plants in Santa Sofia, Boyaca, Colombia.
