Distribution of methane emissions rates from residential natural gas meter set assemblies

These data are methane emissions rates from 37 residential natural gas meters that were measured between 29 August 2023 and 15 November 2023 in the City of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Methane emissions rates from the regulator vents and fugitives are included. Regulator vent emissions were quantified with a 19L static flux chamber and detected fugitive emissions were quantified with a modified version of a HETEK hi-flow sampler. Vent and fugitive emissions are summed in one column of the data to represent a total methane emissions rate for the residential natural gas meters. The r2 values shown were derived by regressing methane mixing ratio on time, as recorded during flux chamber measurements of the regulator vents. Other variables such as temperature, wind speed, and atmospheric pressure at the time of the measurements are also included. The simulated errors for vent and fugitive emissions rates are based on randomly drawing values from measurement method error distributions and ranges.
